Glowing Skin Secrets: Our 5 Favorite Foods for a Gorgeous Complexion

There’s no doubt that you can eat your way to good health and abundant energy, but did you know that you can eat your way to radiant, glowing skin too?

Yes, what you use on your skin externally matters, and this is why you will only find the cleanest, most luxurious oils here at Mukama Botanica, but everything you put into your body plays a role in the health and appearance of your skin too.

In today’s article we wanted to share just 5 of our absolute favorite foods that will not only promote gorgeous, glowing skin, these superfoods will help to drastically improve your health too!

Blueberries

These small berries pack a mighty punch in terms of nutrient content, and the best part of all is that they are delicious too!

Their vibrant blue hue is thanks to a class of antioxidants called anthocyanins that help to fight off free radical scavengers that deplete collagen and contribute to fine lines and wrinkles over time.

Enjoy them on their own, add to a smoothie or oatmeal or even dip them in some melted dark chocolate, yum!

Sweet potatoes

How can you not love this yummy and versatile vegetable? You can stuff it, make crispy fries, mash em or even make a dessert out of them!

Sweet potatoes, like all orange and yellow vegetables are rich in a class of antioxidants called carotenoids, responsible for their color. Carotenoids help to promote cell turnover, leaving your skin smoother and more radiant.

Sweet potatoes are also brimming in one of our favorite beauty vitamins, vitamin C! This antioxidant superstar helps to fight inflammation, brighten blah skin and encourage collagen production for more youthful skin.

Apples

This fiber-rich fruit is excellent for helping to keep the skin clear, a must for glowing skin!

Their rich concentration of Vitamin C helps to fight skin inflammation (adios redness and irritation!) while B vitamins, including B5 and B9, have been proven to combat acne.

Why not try whipping up this delectable vegan apple pie or dip some slices in peanut butter for a filling, protein-rich snack.

Walnuts

Did you know you need to eat only one walnut a day to keep your heart healthy? Yes, really!

Walnuts are loaded in omega 3 fats, which are not only excellent for reducing internal inflammation and reducing your risk of disease, they reduce inflammation in your skin too.

These healthy fats keep skin membranes healthy by locking in nutrients and moisture and keeping irritants out.

Avocados

Okay, so we don’t know how anyone could have a bad word to say about creamy avocado, we are drooling just thinking about it!

Avocados are rich in healthy fats and a hefty dose of antioxidant Vitamin E to aid in tissue repair and to neutralize free radicals.

Try this delicious take on smashed avo on toast next time you get your hands on one!

Incorporating these foods into your diet is really easy to do since they are all so tasty, and you’ll be improving both your health and your skin!
